I’m a Pre Med student which means that I’m an undergraduate student planning to attend medical school after earning my bachelors degree. I’m currently studying at a senior CUNY (City University of New York) college in NYC. I’ve known that I wanted to be a doctor for the past few years and in my junior year of high school I began taking AP courses and College Now classes to get a jump start in college. My school days were very long, I worked really hard and gave up my lunch period to take another class so I eventually graduated high school one semester early.
I decided to major in Psychology/minor in Biology on a pre-med track (that’s where Biology comes in) because I want to be a Psychiatrist (a medical doctor who specializes in diagnosing and treating mental illnesses). I believe that the most pain you can feel is emotional pain not physical pain and mental health is extremely important. Also, the field of psychiatry is often under looked and understaffed and the mental health system needs specialized and caring Psychiatrists.
